Many school districts in mid-Michigan faced budget problems, but some say the changes made will not be visibly seen by students.
East Lansing schools were looking at a $3.5 million budget shortfall. Officials say cuts were made in administration and about 30 first year teachers were not brought back.
Officials still claim that no classes, after school programs, or sports have been cut. The only noticeable difference may be a few more kids in each class.
Grand Ledge schools are one of the few districts that did not make any cuts for this year. Spending has been frozen though, due to a lack of money in the general fund. One way the schools are looking to increase funds is by raising taxes.
For East Lansing, officials say staff will see the majority of the changes as their job responsibility will be increased.
