Prison Likely for Men Guilty of Dog Fighting
Three Michigan men to be sentenced next week.

Federal authorities are asking for prison for three Michigan men who pleaded guilty to dogfighting crimes after 49 pit bulls were seized last summer.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Eaton Brown also is recommending community service, possibly with the Humane Society or another group that cares for animals.
B. Jay Rodriguez of Adrian, Martin Phillips of Bad Axe and Joshua Gates of Blissfield will get their sentences Tuesday and Wednesday in federal court in Detroit. The investigation involved a confidential informant and secret video.
The U.S. attorney's office is recommending six months in custody for Rodriguez and Phillips, and a 13-month prison sentence for Gates. Their lawyers have not yet filed responses in court.
