Peter McPherson, MSU President
MSU President M. Peter McPherson stunned the audience at today's commencement exercise by announcing his planned resignation. Sources had confirmed his decision prior to his afternoon announcement.
McPherson has held the university's top post for 11 years. He says he will remain until the end of 2004 to wrap up some ongoing projects, including the proposed medical college expansion to western Michigan.
