Job seekers packed Lansing Community College's West Campus Friday, hoping to land one of 750 jobs.
Those jobs are at Lansing's Demmer Corporation. The manufacturer is expanding thanks to two military contracts. A variety of positions are open.
Applications were accepted and people were interviewed throughout the day for about six hours. "Our goal was 2,000 people, but I think we'll surpass that long before 3 p.m.," Capital Area Michigan Works! employee Teri Sand said Friday before noon. Michigan Works! and staffing agencies are helping with the hiring process.
If you didn't make it to the hiring fair Friday, you can still apply for a job at Demmer Corporation. Stop by or call the Capital Area Michigan Works! Lansing Service Center. The phone number is (517) 492-5500.
