Lansing Eastern High School eases the transition from middle school to high school by offering upper-class mentors.

Four hundred members of the high school's incoming freshmen class attended a special orientation session on Monday. The session is part of a program called Link Crew.

It matches a freshman with an upper-class mentor throughout the year. The program is designed to help ease the sometimes-difficult transition between middle and high school.

Mentors are there to listen to any problems they might have and help the students with homework concerns that may arise during the year. Freshman spent the day learning the layout of the school and meeting with other students.
