NAPOLEON TOWNSHIP - The Napoleon Township police department, with the help of a Jackson County Sheriff deputy, Michigan State Police, two hunters, and an off-duty officer, catch two men accused of robbing and assaulting a 49-year old woman in her home.
The two men are accused of breaking into the home in the 6200 block of Brooklyn Road in Napoleon Township Tuesday morning. Police say the woman was assaulted with a metal flashlight. Several items and a rifle were taken form the house.
Police were called and started tracking the suspects with a dog. During that, two hunters told officers they saw two subjects north of the victim's residence.
An off-duty Napoleon Township police officer heard about the search on his police radio. He spotted a suspicious vehicle on Moon Lake Road and followed it until a state police trooper stopped the car.
Napoleon police say evidence from the victim's home was in the car. The two suspects were arrested.
The two are expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
