Showers and thunderstorms moved into mid-Michigan Saturday night and a few of the thunderstorms turned severe as the hot, humid and unstable air interacted with an upper level disturbance passing through the area. A tornado was reported in Allegan County in West Michigan with two people injured.
Tree damage was reported in Barry, Kalamazoo and Calhoun Counties. Some damage was reported in the Battle Creek area as the storm moved through. Windows were blown out of a building in town. A tractor- trailer was blown over northwest of Battle Creek.
The storms brought heavy rain to Jackson County as it passed through around midnight. No warnings were issued by the National Weather Service for the storms as they moved through Jackson County. The WILX School Weather Net site in Michigan Center recorded about 1'' of rain as the storm passed through.
