Dansville's elementary, middle, and high schools were locked down for approximately an hour while Ingham County Sheriff's deputies cleared the building, with the help of a canine team from Lansing.

The incident began because of a message scrawled on the boy's bathroom wall at the high school. The superintendent called it a "vague" and said it didn't threaten a person or a building. He wouldn't say if it referenced the tragedy at Virginia Tech.

Many schools nationwide have been locked down this week in the wake of that tragedy. Friday is also the anniversary of the shootings at Columbine High School in Colorado.

All 950 Dansville students were dismissed and all afternoon events cancelled. The threat was unfounded and deputies left without a suspect.
