Controlling the Enlarged Heart

It's called the heart jacket. It's a device, which restricts the heart from continued dilation or expansion and helps it return to normal.

It benefits most to those who have suffered from life-threatening heart conditions and do not want a heart transplant.

The device is still in its experimental stages and doctors say it performs just like a hairnet, where it's placed around the heart and sewn to the back and front sides.

Over time, the device is supposed to reshape the heart back to normal. However, the procedure does require the patient to undergo open heart surgery.

But according to some doctors, it can work wonders and ease budget woes, costing far less than a heart transplant or mechanical heart assist devices.
