The Ingham County Board of Commissioners approved the lease of the Potter Park Zoo Tuesday night.
The five-year lease would give the county management of the zoo. The city of Lansing would continue to own the property.
The Lansing City Council must approve the lease before it becomes final.
Councilmember Carol Wood said Tuesday she expects the lease to come before the full council within a couple of weeks.
