A mid-Michigan prosecutor who admitted to a hit and run accident while driving drunk will not be going to jail.
Randy Colbry of Shiawassee County was sentenced to 2 years probation Thursday and ordered to wear an alcohol monitoring tether.
Colbry must also stay away from bars, alcohol and drugs--- and pay more than $2,000 in fines and court costs.
Colbry pleaded guilty in August to operating while intoxicated and pleaded no contest to failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
On July 7, Colbry drove his Dodge Durango into a Pontiac G6 at the corner of Vernon and M-21 in Venice Township. Police say he then drove off and was tracked down miles away.
Not long after his arrest, Colbry temporarily stepped down as prosecutor to seek treatment. Those 15 days of inpatient treatment were credited toward the 15 days in jail he was sentenced to Thursday.
