An intense, unique rehabilitation program is helping stroke survivors regain speech skills after debilitating brain attacks.
The Intensive Aphasia Program is helping stroke victims to regain their speech. Aphasia is a language processing disorder that affects speech, listening, reading, and writing in stroke survivors. The program provides therapy three and a half hours a day five days a week for three weeks, teaching stroke survivors to better express themselves.
And for people who take the program, it does not matter how long it’s been since someone has had a stroke. They will still see benefits. There are similar Aphasia programs at the University of Michigan, the University of Pittsburgh, and Dalhouse University in Nova Scotia.
