Unofficial results from the Ingham County Clerk’s office say the Millage enhancement was voted down -- 42% to 58% with about 96% of precincts reporting.
The millage would have provided money for operational expenses for 12 Ingham school districts.
Supporters of the millage say the money would have helped with rising costs and inflation in school spending.
Over the past three years state revenue sharing with schools has not increased to meet inflation say supporters.
