Despite the intersection of Saginaw Highway and Canal St. in Delta Township drawing commuter fury, local business are cashing in.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says on an average day that intersection will draw over 33,000 cars.
For Horrock’s Farm Market on the corner that amounts to about 2,000 customers per day.
Management at the store says the traffic backups caused by the township’s expansion near intersection of the Canal St., Saginaw highway and interstate 96 is an opportunity for customers to slow down and notice the market.
The township has no plans to directly alter the intersection but is going to work with Horrock’s Farm Market to decrease its entrances and exits – easing the consumer traffic on the corner.
The hope is that will provide temporary relief.
