A Haslett High School graduate is making his film writing and producing debut this weekend. Tim Rizor's movie, Church Folks, is finished and hitting the big screen this weekend.

Rizor graduated in 1997 and went straight to New York City to pursue an acting career. Three years later he returned home. Nancy Rizor, Tim's mom, says he came back to mid-Michigan a writer, a director and a producer. Now he's showing off his skills to the public as he premiers his movie in the Haslett High School Auditorium this weekend.

Church Folks is loosely based on Rizor's grandfather, a hot tempered preacher, but his mom's father isn't the only relative who helped turn this dream into a reality. Rizor's mom and dad, a Baptist Pastor, both have acting roles in it.

With his first project complete, Rizor is hard at work on two new scripts. He's also going to be pitching screenings for Church Folks at local churches.
