The state House has passed a bill aimed at regulating automated political phone calls that have become more common during election seasons.
The calls are sometimes called 'robocalls.'
The bill that passed the House would require that a person or organization paying for automated political phone calls clearly identify themselves at the beginning of the call.
Similar legislation is pending in the state Senate.
House Democrats said that several states, including Indiana and Minnesota, have enacted laws regulating political robocalls.
