Mid Michigan Girl Does the Right Thing by Reporting a Scare

Meridian Township Police say now it was just a serviceman who was on his way to read meters, but the child was right in following her instincts.

The girl had no way of knowing that the stranger was on his way to work, not following her at all, and authorities are praising her actions. Marge Clay, the principal of Cornell Elementary, says it's exactly what the girl and all of the other children at the school have been taught to do.

As part of the Michigan model, the kids learn about stranger danger. Clay says teachers tell their students about an "uh-oh" feeling, the funny feeling that you get inside your stomach when you know something is not right. Because the girl followed her feelings, school officials say she did just what they had hoped.
