A mid-Michigan man is dead and his 11-year-old son is in critical condition after their car was hit head on in Ingham County's Vevay Township. It happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Ingham County's Sheriff's Department, a driver in a car heading east, a Spring Arbor man, tried to pass in a no passing zone but instead hit the other car.
A Pleasant Lake man was killed and the man's 11-year-old son was injured. Police say neither one was wearing a seat belt. A half-mile stretch of Dexter Trail near Kelly Road was blocked off for close to three hours while investigators cleared the scene.
Both the driver that caused the crash and the injured boy were taken to Sparrow Hospital. The boy is listed in critical condition. Since the driver who caused the crash is still alive, Police say he could be facing criminal charges.
