Two Detroit men are facing open murder and assault with intent to commit murder charges in connection with Sunday morning's shooting in East Lansing. Joseph Parker of Lansing was shot several times and later died. George Whitfield was shot once and injured.
Hatarie McCorkle, 29, is the alleged gunman in the shooting that occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven on Michigan and Grand River Avenues. He's also being charged with possession of a firearm.
Eric Gordy, 35, is charged with open murder and assault with intent to commit murder. In addition, he faces one count of fleeing and alluding.
A third man is being held in police custody as a material witness. The two men are being held without bond and will appear back in court later this month.
