A five hour standoff in Eaton County ended Sunday afternoon with two men being treated for stab wounds and one man in police custody. Police say it may have been a night of drinking that got out of control.
Around 7:30 a.m. Sunday, the Eaton County Sheriff's Department responded to a call about two alleged stabbings. When they got to the cabin on Valley Highway, near Vermontville, they couldn't get a response from the man suspected of the stabbings. Sheriff Rick Jones says he could hear screaming inside and was told that two women were in the cabin with the man. Police surrounded the cabin and called in Eaton County's Special Response Team. The two women eventually walked out, but the team had to go into the cabin to arrest the man.
The man suspected of the stabbings is expected to be arraigned Monday, if charged, he could be facing two counts of attempted murder.
