Ingham County Sheriff's officials say about 12:30 Monday afternoon they received a call that a school bus was being driven in an "erratic manner."
Deputies later located the bus on the side of road near the intersection of Hagadorn and Darling roads in Alaidon Township. Inside they discovered the teen passed out on the bus floorboards.
An investigation showed that the bus had been taken from the Capitol Area Career Center in Mason. The young man was a student at the center.
He now faces charges of Unlawfully Driving Away with a Vehicle and Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence.
