It's been one week since the first Hot 'N Now fast food franchise, in the Lansing area, closed its doors. In that time, a number of other franchises have also shut down.
Employees say the tally could be close to one dozen restaurants and as many as 200 people could be without work. Employees say the shut downs are due to business being slow. The franchise on Waverly is one of the few still open in the area.
Kristyn Sorensen, of the Michigan Restaurant Association, says it’s a trying time for the restaurant industry because the market is so competitive but things may be looking up in 2004. The forecast is good and sales are expected to rise.
