Michigan Right to Life has launched a statewide petition drive to give the legislature another chance to ban partial birth abortions. The most recent effort was vetoed by Gov. Granholm. If this drive is success and lawmakers approve it, the governor is not able to veto this measure.
Michigan Planned Parenthood will announce a coalition later this month to fight the petition drive.
Director Sue Wagner claims the proposal could end other abortions not just partial birth operations. That's a charge denied by Barb Listing of the state Right to Life organization.
