MSU Board chair David Porteous says he has no reason to believe that school president Peter McPherson is leaving the university despite persistent speculation to that effect.
Porteous tells News 10, "To the extent that other opportunities present themselves to him (McPherson), I'm not aware that he is going anywhere." A source in the McPherson administration also adds he is "not looking for a job" and his "intent is not to leave."
However one Washington source says McPherson interviewed for a top federal job recently. But adding to the conflicting stories on this issue, a supporter of the president says his headhunter did talk with that federal agency but it never got beyond the "feelers" stage.
A university source confirms that the president has made some trustees unhappy but none of them are talking about it publicly.
