Construction Spots to Avoid Heading to the MSU Football Game
When you're heading to the MSU game this weekend, you may want to avoid some cone zones in East Lansing.

In order to hear the roar of the crowd at Spartan Stadium, you won't have to listen to the hum of construction crews on the way there. M-Dot says most work is being stopped for the holiday weekend.
Spokesperson Kari Arend says, "Alot of the construction has been suspended, lanes re-opened for this weekend."

Although most crews won't be working, Lanes and roads are still closed in some places, causing traffic headaches. The Dunkel Road Bridge will be one of the problem areas with only 2-lanes open.
Arend says, "One thing, around the Dunkel Road Interchange, another key interchange, getting into EL is we will always have that we will at least maintain one lane in each direction on that bridge."

Farm Lane on Campus is also closed and won't likely re-open again until late September or Mid-October. That can cause congestion come game time. Arend says, "That project has been delayed by the commuter lot by the corner of Mt. Hope and Farm Lane. Keep in mind, there if you do use that parking lot prior to the game, you'll need to find another way on campus."

Michigan State University Police Sergeant Florene McGlothian-Taylor says, "I'd like to remind people too that Service Road, east of Lot number 83, individuals will not be able to continue that way because of the construction on Farm Lane." Another area of concern for traffic back-ups is this area near Harrison and Mount Hope Road. Taylor says, "I would also say that Mount Hope is going to be a problem because they're down to one lane just west of Harrison Road."

Her best advice on getting to the game is to take the Trowbridge road exit from 127... or the Kalamazoo Street Exit. She says you can also head East off of 96 and take the Okemos Road exit. She says the key this year is to be patient.
