Less than two weeks before Christmas and dozens of Mid Michigan men and women are getting ready to go overseas to serve. National Guard soldiers from the 163rd Battalion in Lansing were briefed earlier today in order to prepare for their departure Sunday morning.
After they finish training in Wisconsin, the soldiers will be sent to Kuwait. Where they'll go after that is still uncertain, but the guardsmen know they'll be gone for at least eighteen months.
Support staff is on hand to help the soldiers and their families. Two units from Grayling will also depart on Sunday.
