Governor's Spending Plan Clears Senate, House Next

The state Senate has voted to delay January's income tax cut by six months. The bill is part of a deal reached between the governor and legislators to fill the state's $774 million budget gap.

The House is still looking at the measure.

And to balance the budget, Gov. Granholm's budget director presented a budget-cutting executive order to state legislators on Wednesday.

Public universities, local governments and prisons would take a hit.
