Mark Nixon, spokesperson for the BWL says they want two percent of their available energy to be from renewable sources by 2008.
He says both the affordable technology and political climate allow for the move. He says both the president and new democratic congress are pushing for more environmentally friendly energy sources.
Nixon says it's not so much a cost saver for customers as it is a move to be more environmentally responsible.
The goal is to have seven percent of it's available energy to be from renewable sources by 2016.
The BWL believes it is the first in the state to move on such a policy.
