A Dallas charity says its experience suggests there may be a downside to the hugely popular "cash for clunkers" program.
The charity which helps at-risk teenagers and their families estimates it has lost $75,000 in potential vehicle donations.
Texans Can vice president Cheryl Rios says some donors called saying they had changed their minds. They said they'd gone ahead and traded the vehicle in under the cash-for-clunkers program. Other charities say they're getting fewer vehicles but many say it's too soon to draw conclusions.
Some donation program operators say the program's popularity has raised awareness about car donation and proven beneficial.
The CEO of Goodwill Industries of Central Texas says his group got more cars in July.
