Police say a body believed to be that of a missing suburban Detroit boater has been recovered from Lake Erie.
Capt. MaryAnne Ortman of the Monroe County sheriff's department says the body was spotted by fishermen Wednesday in several feet of water near the shore.
A positive identification is expected later Thursday morning. Ortman says it is believed the body is that of 65-year-old Allan Socall of Plymouth.
Socall and fellow Plymouth resident 68-year-old James Schnurstein were swimming near the Pointe Mouille State Game Area Monday when an anchor gave way and their boat began to drift.
Schnurstein swam to shore but Socall was reported missing.
