Three Mid-Michigan Soldiers Killed in Duty

Three Mid-Michigan soldiers have lost their lives in the line of duty. Andrew Nelson of St. John's was killed earlier this week. Nelson was a 2005 graduate of St. John's high school.

Also, 28-year-old Army Sergeant Curtis Norris from Dansville died Saturday in a roadside bombing in Iraq.

Norris was part of a unit based at Fort Drum in New York. This was his second tour of duty in Iraq with the unit--he was originally there in 2004.

He leaves behind a wife and a 5-year-old daughter. His mother says he was a happy and outgoing guy--and liked being in the military.

The community of Howell is also mourning the loss of one of its own. 21-year-old Private Wilson Algrim was killed on December 23. He died along with two other Michigan soldiers after a roadside bomb detonated near their vehicle during combat operations in Salman Pak, Iraq.

The military says they were assigned to an infantry battalion stationed in Big Rapids.
