Update: Sheriff's Deputy Killed in Highway Accident
Man dies in early morning accident.

A Clinton County Sheriff's Deputy is dead following an accident on U.S. 127 Monday morning.
Deputy Douglas Alward hit a deer on northbound U.S. 127 near the I-69 interchange. He was thrown from his motorcycle and then run over by a semi.
Alward was 39 years old and married with two children. He'd worked for several departments including Ingham County, Ovid and DeWitt.
The driver of the semi was not hurt. It's not yet known if any criminal charges will be filed. DeWitt Township Police are investigating the accident.
