A Mason couple who has dedicated their lives to caring for special needs children has a brand new home got the holidays. Construction began in August and Tuesday, the Wangers moved in.
The idea came from a man who goes to church with them. He's a member of the Greater Lansing Homebuilders Association. Other builders and community members quickly signed on. More than 260 people donated time, money and materials to made it all happen.
Arlene and Fran Wanger have 11 children, two of whom are biologically theirs. The rest are adopted and all but one child has special needs. Their new home has more than double the square footage their previous one had.
The final step in this process is to remove their former 1,000 square foot home. Crews will do that in the next few months.
