A goodbye from one of Mid-Michigan's more familiar lawmakers today, after 16 years serving in the state legislature.
House Democratic Leader Dianne Byrum delivered her farewell address to the State House today.
She served in the house from 1991 to 1994, then in the state senate from 1994 to 2002 before she was term limited there and was re-elected to the house for 2002 through 2006. She is term limited once again.
Byrum is the first woman in Michigan history to lead a legislative caucus.
Her daughter Barb Byrum will replace her next year.
