Peter Cunningham, Lansing Schools Bond Campaign Manager, met with about 35 citizens representing Lansing East side. He says community meetings like that are the "grass roots" types of efforts that will help to pass the $74.9 million school bond.
The meeting was the launch of Lansing's campaign for school improvement that is run by the organization, "Citizens for Lansing Schools."
The organization hopes to collect $100,000 in donations to help its campaign.
The first of two proposals hopes to improve and update the following school buildings: Pleasant View Elementary, Dwight Rich Middle School, Gardner Middle School, Otto Middle School, Eastern High School, Sexton High School and Everett High School.
The Bond could also mean a new Pattengill Middle School.
The second proposal would mean a new swimming pool for Pattengill and synthetic turf for the Everett and Sexton football stadiums.
