The West Michigan woman who survived a horrific rollover crash on Interstate-96 last May is the face for the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning's new Public Service Announcement.

Emily Bowness, of Holland, was driving to a concert in Detroit. Trevor Ryan, 19 of Spring Lake, hit her. She swerved and flipped her SUV at least eight times. An Oakland County Sheriff's Deputy was driving behind the vehicles and caught the crash on her dashboard camera.

Bowness was wearing a seat belt and survived. She had only minor injuries. At a news conference Tuesday, she helped unveil a PSA promoting seat belt safety during the busy holiday travel season. TV stations around the station have been sent the PSA.

Ryan, the driver who caused Emily's accident, has been charged with reckless driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
