LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today issued the following statement on the passing of former University of Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler: "My thoughts and prayers are with Coach Schembechler's family on this sad day. Bo Schembechler was an inspiration for generations of University of Michigan fans, players and alumni and for football programs across the nation. Not just in his athletic career but throughout his life, his integrity and work ethic embodied the true spirit of a 'Victor'. I know that the coach will be looking down over his Wolverines this weekend, and will continue to watch over the Big House for seasons to come."

WASHINGTON - Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., made the following statement today regarding the death of Michigan legend Bo Schembechler: "Bo Schembechler may have been born in Ohio but he is a Michigan legend. As the coach of the University of Michigan Wolverines football team from 1969 until 1990, and a campus fixture until the day he died, Bo led a program defined by integrity and excellence. His accomplishments on and off of the field are a source of pride for all Michiganders and especially those who wear the Maize and Blue."
