Some called last week's surprise contract termination of East Lansing's Superintendent Dr. Tom Giblin shocking and fast. But searching for his successor has yet to gather any momentum.
Barbara McMillan, President of E. Lansing's school board says they have yet to formally discuss any search plans.
McMillan says some of the school board was still in a state of shock over giving Dr. Giblin his notice, terminating his employment about a year from now.
Board member Charles Hackney says the school district must begin the search soon to make sure to get qualified officials who fit the district's qualifications.
Hackney believes a field of candidates could surface as early as this spring.
