Will people driving the wonderful foreign products move to the source countries to enjoy a perfect life?

On pension, per the bankruptcy there is no change in pension for union or salaried. As far as taking away medical, come on, GM is on the verge of going out of business because of the golden beni's. These beni's and HIGH wages caused the big 3 to cut back on product content and over time made the vehicles sorely uncompetitive. GM has to cut cost and improve product to be competitive and stay in business.

Bob, if your son in law has a company car supplied by GM, GM requires the 2nd car in the family to be a GM product and purchased every 3 years. He can turn in his company car if he does not want to comply. Employees who do not have a company car are not required to buy/drive a GM product.

my daughter just married a mid-level manager who has worked for gm for many years. my daughter has a car she has been leasing ands it goes back in october 2009. her husband has told her that she must drive a gm car. the company will not allow a spouse to drive any other brand. considering that the taxpayers own a huge chunk of the company which is in chapter 11 and owes over 90 billion with what is going on in this economy, how in the world can the government allow gm to continue this ridiculous practice of forcing spouses of gm employees to drive a gm car? does anybody have the real deal on this issue. like many other families we have a 2 year old vehicle which is not gm but would cost my daughter zero, and allow her to put the money in a house and perhaps a child. hopefully someone will have the answer.

While our retirement benefits are being taken away, Congress battles every day to protect the doctors, hospitals, drug companies, etc. instead of getting a fast Health Care system for the whole country. We wiil remember them too when 1/3 of them come up for re-election in 2010 wanting to keep their best health care in the world, not have to pay any SS taxes, but still get 3/4 of their salary in Pensions from the $175,000 a year they make for being (present) just 88 days of the year. Its time to end the jobs of (career politicians) that stay for 30-40 years at our expense, plus the handouts they get from special interest groups that are moving more foreign auto plants into our country that they encourage. Its time to remove those too from office at the city and State levels. They would sell their souls to get a foreign auto company to move to their city or State with big incentatives that we taxpayers have to pay for.

Dake you are so right the gov and big ceo dont have to give up noyhing and look how their children are living, like a silver spoonin their mouth while ours children barely can go to public school of choice for there closing more schools laying off more teachers for our top gov and ceo can continue to leech off us. It just makes me sick how hard we work just to have everything taken from us. Now they need to start closing hospitals for we wont have the insurance to pay.

I believe michigan is becoming a service job state, where ten dollars an hour will be top pay. How do the car makers expect us workers making ten bucks an hour to be able to buy a new car or truck that costs around twenty five grand? The people making these cars will soon be in the same boat as the rest of America not being able to have a car payment plus house payment and food on the table. With everything going up higher like insurance, food, and fuel to heat our homes and what is up with gasoline? Just these last two weeks gas has went up ten cents a gallon and today it has reached $2.96 a gallon. And now Granholm wants to raise the gas tax to help pay for the roads. We all need to pick a day and not buy any gas and see what happens.

Jen, they don't understand until it happens to their own, i feel so bad, for i'm one of the ones who lost my job because of the cuts, but i did.nt make 30.00 an hour i made 10.00, So now its up to my husband which they cut his his hours and don't know how longer he'll be working either for we both work for some way with the auto and it hurts us all. Tese people just don't know how it effects the the whole state and usa.

Dont people get it GM is one of the fathers to this country its not about greed these people worked hard for there money just like so many complain about other business and government jobs how they dont do enough for their pay, but you better think twice for NO ONE IS SAFE ON THEIR JOB OR BENIFITS IF THEIR RETIRE SO LEAVE THESE HARD WORKING PEOPLE ALONE FOR THEY WORKED FOR WHAT IS THEIR DON'T TAKE WHAT THEY HAVE AWAY.

As the son of a Retired GM worker, I am upset that his retirement benefits are in jeopardy. Why should an American worker give 33 years of loyal service to an American company and then be viewed as a liability when the company is going belly up? It is the upper management team that screwed up by incorrect marketing strategies, trips in private jets, parties galore and so much more that are now being blamed on the debt of retired workers pensions. My father worked loyally and in return expected to be able to live out his golden years on the pension income he was promised. How about if the cirremt CEO of GM gave up his large salary and luxurious life style. Or the previous CEO gave up his pension after being ousted by President Obama. For that matter, Mr. President Obama you speak of a need for change. Why don't you give up your large salary and the private schools your daughters attend. My siblings and I had a middle class upbringing with no frills and we all survived. Could You?

I retired 15 yrs ago from GM and I felt blessed at Gm taking care of all my needs. I think the average American should feel angry at not getting good benefits and a pension, instead of attacking Gm and thier employees. Iam tired of hearing the word imports this imports that. What ever kind of great import you think you have, well all cars are massed produced and yes all car companies will have lemons. Wake up America and learn economics 101 and learn why American Jobs make the economy go round in a perfect circle. All the foriegn brands of automobiles that have chipped away at Gm, they didnt do it, the American public made them great and bought them. America loves imports because the media fed them that imports are great and America cars are junk. You were brainwashed to shoot yourself in the foot. In other countries they drive their brands not foriegn brands, but in America we cant wait to impress our friends with imports that destroy jobs
