New Republican leaders have pledged to work with the Democratic governor. That may get its first test when Democrats run a bill giving consumers the right to sue pharmaceutical companies in cases of wrongful death or injury from medication.

House Speaker Elect Andy Dillon calls it a top priority. The newly elected Senate GOP leader Mike Bishop says he did not take a stance on what he would do if this bill got to the Republican controlled Senate.

In the past, the GOP has staunchly rejected the proposal.
