A local youth program offers some much needed tools of the trade to students at Lansing's Willow Elementary School.

The One Pastor One School youth program handed out backpacks filled with school supplies.

Organizers say it helps level the playing field for low-income families and helps east the burden schools have when it comes to purchasing supplies.

District officials say on average, Lansing spends about $90 on each student for school supplies.
