If your child has come home from school with a queasy stomach, it may not be back to school anxiety, but the stomach flu.

It's what's going around, and area physicians say now that school is back in session, gastroenteritis is easily spread. It's a virus that causes diarrhea, nausea, chills, or a mild fever, and symptoms typically last three to five days.

While antacids can give some relief, they may prolong the illness, so the key is to get plenty of fluids, stay away from sugary foods, or liquids, and to observe a good hand washing routine.

Dehydration is always a risk, so make sure fluids are given frequently.
