The congressman who lost the Republican primary to Tim Walberg has filed to be a write-in candidate in his congressional district for tomorrow's election.
A spokesman for incumbent congressman Joe Schwarz says the decision was not made to upset the race. Matt Marsden says supporters told the first-term lawmaker from Battle Creek that they planned to write in his name tomorrow. But without filing as a write-in candidate, those votes would not have counted, so he filed.
Walberg faces Democrat Sharon Renier in the largely rural district stretching from Hillsdale to Jackson and Battle Creek.
