The defense called its last witness Tuesday, Lisa's mother. A frail Betty Taylor told jurors her daughter was a loving mother who was married to a controlling man. Betty's husband, Tom, chose to remain silent Monday when he was called to the stand. He could be a target for additional investigation into Ricky's death.

When asked if she ever asked Lisa about the truth surrounding Ricky's death, Betty said she had no reason to believe Lisa wasn't telling the truth. She thought Ricky had run away and never even knew his remains had been recovered until she saw the television news coverage about it.

Also Tuesday, Lisa Holland waived her right to testify in her own murder trial. Closing arguments will begin Wednesday morning, then the jury will receive instructions and begin deliberating.
