So mich has a huge crime rate.So more go on unemployment. So the poor get cut and suffer. So it takes longer to get response to accidents or from fire dept.So the rich get richer, the poor get to be thousands.Does any one out there think jenn or thoes serving with her going to use their heads and what problems this is going to make.I thank all police, fire fighters and EMT people,I feel for all that have lost jobs, and I wish jobs would come back here.I never have complained about my taxes going to help the poors programs. They are NEEDED.If one has never used thee services they may feel they are not needed. If one has their own personal police protection and a limo to drive them,If one eats well and has great medical coverage,a nice home, cool in the summer and warm in the winter and all bills paid. Can travel, and have a spouses good income.Money is what it is all about and no worries. Our governor and family has such a life.To bad she don't want as much for the people who she rules over.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! And Granholm should be ousted from her Governorship! Immediately!!! There is no excuse for such a poor move in these TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES, that she is willing to risk the safety of Michigans citizens! AS a taxpayer, I AM DISGUSTED with this Administrations lack of regard for the people of this state! I would suggest emailing and calling her office and Giving her your thoughts on this poor move. YET once again..HER SALARY remains the same.... No cutbacks in her office..and she has her own security team.. the rest of us, will probably need to go and sign up to carry a concealed weapon.. Not to mention, on top of all this, SHE IS LETTING CRIMINALS out of Jail EARLY!! Wow...must be open season on innocent citizens to become targets to crime. KNOWING the MSP are being laid off. Michigan Leadership is making me SICK!

I think it is disgusting to save $1.7 million to layoff 100 state police. There is by far a lot of waste in the state government that cost more than $1.7 million. I have sent the Gov. an opinion about a simple increase of $2.00 a year increase on Michigan's more than 900,000 registered boats. $2.00 a year. That would more than offset the $1.7 million for the state police. Imagine what $5.00 or $10.00 a year would do for all other law enforcement agencies who are in a budget squeeze. I am a boat owner and I would gladly pay. "Save the cops screw the criminals". Thank you.

How awful. We are going to release a whole bunch of prisoners early and lay off the police at the same time. What a shame. Thank you to all you state troopers that have watched over us and kept us safe.

As a natural born Michigan tax paying citizen, I sincerely apologize to all State Troopers and State Employees. You are valuable and we appreciate you and your dedication to our state. Most state workers have gone above and beyond the call of duty. We carry several licenses, and have always been treated with respect and had our business taken care of promptly. Generally state employees have been kind and helpful on the telephone. If I were to need help (accident/robbery/or other incidents), I would be most grateful to have a Michigan State Policeman come to my aid. (Although, we have been profiled in an old van we had, but that's alright, we had nothing to hide and a brand new muffler! HA!) I do not think this is the correct department to reduce. I think there are far more "pork" departments that would use drastic reducing first. I am sorry and embarrassed that our beautiful, once prosperous state has come to this. May God Save Michigan - May God Save America
