First Day Means New Look

Monday was the first day of school in Lansing. The new school year means a new look for some schools.

At CLCCA Magnet School, Khaki and navy panys and collared shirts have taken the place of jeans and t-shirts. School officials say the new dress code means students do not have to compete when it comes to clothing.

Lab coats for all at Woodcreek Magnet Elementary School. The staff says research shows behavior changes with the presence of uniforms and the focus remains on academics, not the dress of others.

Pattengill Middle School made subtle changes to its dress code. Administrators say they want the clothing to reflect modesty and be comfortable and clean. That means no more baggy pants, halter-tops, and mid-drift blouses.
