They're planning to release TV, radio and newspaper ads this coming week in an effort to raise nearly $7 million for the Capital Area United Way.

The group's fundraising campaign organizers say they'd like to live up to last year's fundraising success, despite its continuous effort to recover after a former employee embezzled $2 million from the organization.

Representatives say already some companies have shown an increase in donations. They say Fifth Third Bank's donations have increased by about 14 percent, and Capital Area United Way employees increased their donations by about 10 percent.

The fundraising campaign lasts until mid November. Anyone interested in donating can call 203-5000.
