Former President Ford is looking forward to visiting the new home of the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.

Medical tests kept the nation's oldest living former president from attending today's building dedication at the University of Michigan.

The 93-year-old Ford was hospitalized yesterday at Eisenhower Medical Center in California for medical tests. But his son Steven says his father would be pleased with the public policy school's new home.

The $35 million Joan and Sanford Weill Hall is an 85,000 square foot facility. It serves as a southern gateway to the university's central campus and features classrooms, a 200-seat auditorium and offices.

Ford was a standout center on the Michigan football team before graduating from the university in 1935.
