Two Mid-Michigan Schools Announce Delays

On Tuesday, both E. Lansing Schools and Concord Community Schools in Jackson County announced delays in their start dates. Both say construction issues were the cause.

In E. Lansing building code issues and an over-optimistic time schedule were the causes of the delayed start.

As a result, Sept. 2 will be the first day for elementary students (1/2 day) and for E. Lansing High students (full day) – a delay of four days.

Middle School students will begin school Sept. 8 – a delay of eight days.

For the Concord School District, school will be delayed due in part to unanticipated amounts of asbestos found.

As a result the district’s start date will be delayed three and a half days to Sept. 2.

Both districts have yet to determine if the end of the school year will be pushed back as a result.
