Rain Delays Local Harvest

Area farmers are pleased with the weekend forecast, as they are behind in the fall harvest. Farmers say they've been waiting for dry weather to harvest soybeans and corn, and hopefully this weekend they will finally get it done.

Mason farmer John Coy says he is a couple weeks behind schedule. He usually harvests beans the third week of September. Without harvesting the current crop, he cannot get his winter crop in the ground, which is wheat.

Coy says the cooler temperatures we've been having makes it difficult to dry up the ground, although he says this year shouldn't be too big of a problem as long as the rain holds off.
